Post Robbery Kit


(NOTE: This page contains a sample of a post robbery kit that can be used to help better prepare credit unions. This page is intended to be
educational in nature and ICUT always recommends obtaining official post robbery materials directly from your local law enforcement agency.)

A post robbery kit is intended assist credit union personnel through a crisis situation. This kit consist of 2
envelopes, #1 & #2. The contents of the first envelope should be printed out by the page numbers shown below,
inserted into a large envelope labeled "Post Robbery - Envelope #1" and given to the teller supervisor on duty.
The contents of the second envelope should be printed out by the page numbers shown below, inserted into a large
envelope labeled "Post Robbery - Envelope #2" and given to all tellers on duty. Simply do a PRINT SCREEN of
this page to obtain all of the materials needed for your post robbery kit. To custom fit the contents on this
page simply copy and paste separately by page to a new document.

Envelope 1 (For On Duty Supervisor)

Contains:
Master Key To Credit Union Office
Office Closure Sign
Copies Of Suspect ID Worksheet
Robbery Witness List
Roll of Masking Tape
An ALL CLEAR Sign

 

AFTER A ROBBERY

 

1. Lock all credit union doors so no one other than law enforcement can come or leave. (master key enclosed)

2. Ask everyone to remain still and quiet.

3. Place office closure sign on outside door. (sign enclosed)

4. Set off the alarm. If you already set your alarm off, set off another alarm.

5. Block off robbed area with tape. (masking tape enclosed)

6. Call the police – 911 and say:

This is GIVE YOUR NAME from GIVE NAME OF YOUR CREDIT UNION. We have just been robbed and the robber has left.
We are located at GIVE YOUR CU ADDRESS. There were NO injuries.

Answer any questions with facts only, don’t guess. Stay on the line until the police arrive.

7. Designate some one to greet the police at the door and when the police do arrive have the designated person display the ALL CLEAR
sign. (sign enclosed)

8. Distribute a SUSPECT ID WORKSHEET to everyone present. (forms enclosed)

9. You are responsible for taking care of the teller that was robbed. Do the following now:

Lock the tellers drawer and tell all of the tellers to also lock their drawers.

Take the teller to an vacant desk and instruct them to privately complete the SUSPECT ID Worksheet.

Ask the teller if they need anything. (Water, bathroom, etc). Stay close by.

10. Call the President/CEO (If not already in the office)

11. Obtain names, addresses, and telephone numbers from all members and staff in the credit union. (form enclosed)

12. Now you must complete a SUSPECT ID WORKSHEET.

13. After the police have arrived, and in cooperation with their investigation, begin a dual cash count of all those tellers that were not

AFTER A ROBBERY

 

Do not panic and try to remain calm.

Lock your cash drawer and secure all negotiable instruments.

Remain quiet and still until you have received instructions from your supervisor or law enforcement officials.

Do not discuss the details about what has just occurred with other employees or members.

Begin completing the Suspect ID Worksheet (form enclosed)
